The Canadian Heart Association’s ACLS education programs integrate the BLS skills with the advanced knowledge needed to participate in or manage a resuscitation event effectively. The program emphasizes the importance of preventing cardiac arrest, early and continuous, high-quality CPR, and high-performing teams. The course reflects science and education from the 2020 International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) Guidelines for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).

Who Should Attend An ACLS Classroom-Based Program?

The Canadian Heart Association’s ACLS program is designed for healthcare professionals who participate in, or manage resuscitation events. This can include but is not limited to personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care, and critical care units such as physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, dentists, paramedics, and others who need an ACLS course completion card.

What Will You Learn During The ACLS Program?

You will…

  • Utilize the BLS, Primary, and Secondary Assessments.

  • Recognize the impact and importance of team dynamics on overall team performance.
  • Discuss how the use of a rapid response team or medical emergency team may improve patient outcomes.

 How Will I Be Evaluated?

During the Canadian Heart Association’s ACLS program, you will be given access to an integrated online evaluation system. It is through the use of this system that you will be evaluated. Evaluation happens in real-time with the program. You can access the system using your own smartphone or use one of our loaner iPads. Free wifi will be provided at the course. Through the use of this interactive evaluation system, we can guarantee that you will successfully complete the program and earn your ACLS Provider Certificate. The Canadian Heart Association doesn’t use the MEGA-CODE Evaluation system.

What Certificates Will I Earn At The End Of The Program?
